Gide-isms

Gideon is boy #4. He is 4. I think he is hilarious. I don't know where he gets his personality. If you don't think he's as funny as I do, that's OK. I just wanna keep track of his little quips for my own good.

Justin is a little on the hairy side. I think it's manly (even though I have to shave the bathroom floor). Gideon is on an "I Spy" kick right now. He came in the bathroom yesterday when Justin was in the shower.
Gideon: Daddy! Wanna play I Spy?
Daddy : Sure.
Gideon: I spyyyyyyy.......something.........FURRY!!!
Daddy: Is iiiiiit............ME?
Gideon: YEP! You guessed it!

A few minutes ago, I flushed an earwig down the toilet. Gideon said, "Goodbye, SUCCA!" Then, he sat on the floor talking to me while I was getting ready to go. I don't know what he was saying. He could talk the head off of a..........um........person. He could talk your head off. Yeah, that. Anyway, I was going, "Uh-huh. MMmm. Yup. MMhmm. Oh, I see." when I realized that he was telling me he wants to get a hamster & name him Elephant. I think that's a great idea.

New Baby Stuff, Doctor Trips, an OCD Melt Down & Cute Boys

Found: 2 good deals yard-saling last weekend. Excersaucer (walker w/ no wheels): $10. Portable light-up baby swing: $9. Both have been on my wish list for a while now, but I can never buy anything brand new. It seems like such a ridiculous notion to me. Both of the things I found were in great condition & I easily saved myself $50. Brought 'em home, cleaned 'em up. Good as new. Isaac LOVES his new stuff. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves (with the aide of captions of course). "Yeah, me!!!" (Look at his dimples! Love 'em!)

"E=MC2"

"Whoa, dude. This is like totally gnarly, man."

"OOooo......pretty lights!!!"

Getting ready to go earlier today (to take Micah to the Dr for a really infected mosquito bite), I made Titus wear (GASP!!!) shorts, instead of long pants. I try to ease him out of his comfort zone now & then. He doesn't understand the concept of shorts. It's just all WRONG. WHY would ANYONE wear HALF a pair of pants??!!! They don't even go down to your feet! "And WHY doesn't my shirt have SLEEVES??? MOMMY!!! HELP!!!" *Sigh* The horror.

Micah's face aptly depicts how I felt about being at the doctor's office for the umpteenth time this month. I forgot to blog Jarod's ER trip last week. For a few days he had been having pains very similar to Seth's appendicitis. I didn't think lightning would strike the same family twice, but I had to be sure. Apparently constipation can mimic appendicitis. I was glad to find THAT out..............$600 & 3 hours (w/6 kids) later!!! Of course I was thankful it wasn't serious. Micah's infection is not serious either. He's doing OK. You can see the bite on his leg there though. It's a doosey.

Pictures of Nanny & Papa's VISIT

As promised, here are pictures of the rest of Nanny & Papa's visit from last week. Sadly, I failed to get any pictures of Nanny & Papa. But I promise they were here.......and we had a very nice time together!

Wednesday was a pic nic at the park. There was yummy food prepared by Sarah. Deborah & Justin did a little fishing in the river. Didn't get any pics of that either. Video would have been nice. Especially when we all heard Deborah's panicked screaming. She thought that she had caught a fish............but then discovered that all she'd caught was a stick. I was disappointed for her (she did try for a long time, out in the rain), but relieved that she hadn't been accosted by violent thugs. The kids played in the sprinklers & the rain. I gave up trying to keep kids dry. Not one towel, shirt, or hoodie was dry when we got home. Except for Titus' things of course. OCD-boy didn't get wet. He just had a poo-poo accident all over himself & had to get a bath in the sink in the public restroom. As long as his clothes are not wet, he's happy. Poop is alright though. Water: BAD!!! Poop: OK. I don't pretend to understand.

Thursday was a BBQ at Sarah & Emily's new house. There was more yummy food prepared by Sarah & Emily, more water play in the back yard, a rousing game of Cranium & the boys only minimally damaged the property. At the end of the evening, we hugged Nanny & Papa goodbye. They left early the next morning. Even though I forgot to get any pictures of them (& then proceeded to leave my camera at Sarah & Emily's house because the kids have stolen my brain)...........it was still so nice to see them!!! We love you, Nanny & Papa!

Difficult Week: Goodbye to Maggie & to Seth's Appendix

Last week was a tough one. On Wednesday morning we had to put our Maggie down. She has been slowly getting sicker & sicker from cancer. But finally, we realized it was time for her go........before she started to suffer badly. She has been with us for 8 yrs. She was such a good mommy dog. She reminded me of Nana on Peter Pan. She didn't spoon out medicine for the kids, but she did patiently let them climb all over her. She would swim out to them in the river to "save" them & offer them her tail & watched over them. Where ever the kids were, she was. She never whined or complained or growled about anything. We are all heart broken over losing her & miss her very much already. We hope pets go to heaven. If they do, she will be there. She was such a good girl.

Bye, Maggie. We'll never forget you.
Wednesday afternoon was a nice family pic-nic at the park: a late celebration of Micah's b-day. There was more pizza, cake & presents. Justin played ball with the boys & fetch with Scout. Justin, Deb & Em played some catch in a big field. Sarah & Mom comforted me. It was a nice distraction for the kids. No pics.......sorry.
Then, on Thursday, I took Seth to the ER for some lower-right belly pain he was having. Sure enough, it was his appendix. He went into surgery around 2:30 am Friday. All went well. We had a 2-day hospital stay. I was able to stay with him & had the baby with me too. They even put a bed in there for me. Justin took an extra day off & stayed home with the other 4 boys. I hovered over Seth & drove the nurses crazy. Seth was pretty excited when they wheeled him down the hall into surgery. He said, in complete awe, "I always wondered what this was like!!!" I tried to get the nurse to yell "STAT!!!" for Seth, but he was a party pooper. During the surgery, I was a nervous wreck & talked to God a lot. That was the hardest part for me. I knew it was a common thing.........but, you know........my baby was in SURGERY. Seth said the worst part of his stay & of his pain was the hunger he felt when the Dr wouldn't let him eat for a day & 1/2. He got very tired of juice & jello!!! He would probably say the best part of his stay was the drugs they gave him, though he doesn't remember much from when he was on them. He did do a nice Darth Vader impression for the nurses. He interacted with the TV shows he was watching & told Will Smith (on Fresh Prince) that his friends were just jerks anyway & to let them go. He also said that the TV & the air vent were arch rivals & would kill each other. He found rhyming jello, mellow, fellow & bellow to be very intriguing. He even bellowed once.......so I would know what the word meant. Now he is home & recovering nicely. Thankfully, he only needs Motrin.
Seth feeling sick & tired............of jello!

Seth's buddy, Nic, making fun of Seth for his drug-induced antics.
Seth hugging Nic goodbye while still being made fun of. It's OK. He barely remembers the visit.

A bright spot: Nanny & Papa are here from Seattle to visit.
They brought doughnuts & hats for breakfast.

Nice Papa got on the floor (very brave on THIS floor!!!) & played w/ the kids. They also threw water balloons & a took walk together. Pic-nic & a BBQ (& more pics) still to come before they leave on Friday.
