Homeschool Flexibility

When we start out doing lessons for the day, it looks something like this: ......and this. But, my kids have different learning styles. Micah does well, holding still, looking very studious. Seth needs some tunes coming through his head-phones to block out the sound of little brothers. Jarod needs something...else. As the studying progresses...
........this happens.........
........and this.......
(Micah still behaving studiously.)

.......then this (but at least he's finally sitting still.....for the moment).

It may not look like Jarod is studying, but I promise you, he is. I'm very thankful for the flexibility that homeschooling provides, in allowing the boys to learn in their own, unique ways....and that they can go out to the back yard & climb the tree, whenever they need to, to "get the wiggles out."

Boys need to be able to be boys. They were not built to hold still for too long. For years, I have let my boys do their homework standing up, on the trampoline, in the living room sprawled out on the floor ... Where ever they are most comfortable and can just get their work done.

I've had the "parent-teacher conferences about my child's 'issues'" talk. The teachers learn.

Hee hee hee. My little guy is the same way. Totally.

Are you willing to share your drugs once you get them? My drug of choice is Pepsi...but shhh, don't tell my hubby when you sneak it over to me though.

Thanks (8 months later), ladies! This isn't meant to say, btw.....that ALL schools or teachers handle things this way. There are LOTS of GREAT teachers out there who don't believe in drugging kids, unnecessarily, either.
